Back in early spring when Mare and I walked around the outside of the house and took inventory of everything that needed to be done, he said he thought I had about three weeks of painting to do.

But then I paid someone to paint the eaves
on the east side of the house.
Just look at that turquoise trim there.  Swoon.
I still love it, even though Tim calls it Miami Vice Blue.

And he painted the eaves on the
west side of the house.
(While he was over there, he cleaned out the gutters too.)

Also the eaves on the front.
(Plus he put the new downspout on the house.)
And just like that, I have about a week's worth of work to do now.
As my friend Marinda would say, "Huzzah!"

Everybody's Happy

Remember last post when I showed y'all the mysterious man walking in my side yard?  I know y'all have just been on pins and needles ever since wondering what the heck he was doing there.
Well, he was putting up ladders there.  And on the other side too.

And in the front yard, as well.

He's going to paint all three of the eaves.  Yep, for the first time ever I'm hiring someone to do something I could do myself.  Because I could do it myself...but I don't want to.  My fear of heights is well-documented.  The thought of dragging heavy ladders all over the yard and struggling to place them just right fills me with loathing.  So Chris is going to do it, and for a great price.  He makes a little money, I get out of doing a chore I don't want to do, and everybody's happy.

Yard Work

Last week on my days off the weather was beautiful.
I woke up early at the crack of noon every day raring to go.
I will divide hosta!

(That's a lot of hosta.)
I will mulch the front flower bed!

I will pull the weeds out of the flower bed next to the walkway!
Then I'll mulch it too!

I will pull the weeds out of the flower bed on the west side of the house!
And put more mulch there, too!

Uhhhhh....not so much.
I ran out of motivation, daylight, and mulch all at the same time.
(Please note that, at long last, the downspouts are back
where they belong.)
And just before it got dark, I stepped out front to
try and get a photo of the yard...
which didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to, but...
There's a man in my yard!
See him, there on the right side?
Whatever could he be doing??
Dun, dun, DUN....
