Marion Explains It All

I could explain how we used the marks on the house (called witness marks or ghost marks) to figure out what the original porch looked like, but I thought y'all might rather hear Mare's explanation.  Enjoy.

  1. Hey Mare!!!!!

Jayne....are you going to scrap the paint off before the rebuild? What color will the shingles be painted or asphalt shingles be on the mansard part?

    Continue on.

  2. I can scrape the paint now. Mare forbid me to until after he measured and we made the video. We're looking at asphalt that looks like the old flat hex shingles for the mansard part and rubber roofing for the flat part.

  3. Mare's Missouri gentleman's accent is making me homesick for my state to the south. And you guys keep up the good work!

    1. He does have a Missouri gentleman's accent! I've always liked his accent. It's a bit different from mine, which is odd because we both grew up in the same part of Missouri. Mine's a shade more Southern. Thanks for the encouragement!

  5. I saw your retweet on the sidebar about fudgesicles. How is it I never thought of making these at home. Plus ice creamsicles with goodies added. On my way to the store for a mold:

    1. Don't those look good?! I never thought of making them at home either. I didn't make them last night because I couldn't find molds, so I'll have to wait until I go into "the city" for work and see if Target has some.
